Camoclad delivers the camouflage graphics printed on 4' Wx5'L vinyl sheets of 3M Controltac 160-C, a 4 mil-thick , premium vinyl film designed for dry application to vehicles. The back of the 3M graphic vinyl is covered with pressure-activated microscopic pockets of adhesive that allow the film to be repositioned during installation until pressure is applied to the film surface by hand or with a squeegee. The vinyl can be easily removed by simply peeling it away from the vehicle body. It does not damage the paint.

(In the last installment we added a few niceties to our 2007 Tundra Double Cab 4x4 to make it more functional and powerful. This month we take a big step in making Project Deepwoods' looks far different than any other Toyota Tundra seen on-or off-the road. In the end our goal is to build a truly unique 4x4 for the avid outdoorsman and off-road adventurer.)

It's pretty cool to be driving a truck down the road and get a thumb's-up and smiles from onlookers that span the gamut from grade-schoolers to the elderly, conservatives to extremists, bike riders to bikers, postal workers to soldiers, ditch diggers to doctors. Even those who don't understand or don't appreciate the truck do double-takes.

You see, our Project Deepwoods Toyota Tundra has officially made the transformation into what one neighbor calls an "honest-to-God bubba truck."
Putting a full camouflage body wrap on a brand new pickup tends to bring out those types of comments. We love it.

Begin the vinyl graphics installation at front of the vehicle. Make sure the "Mossy Oak" logos imprinted into the 4x5-foot Camoclad graphics sheets are right-side up so the grain and patterns match. If they are mismatched, there will be "darker" area on the truck as you look down the side. Adjust the first sheet so it overlaps the fender panel if at all possible. Use a strip of 2-inch-wide masking tape at the sides to hold sheet in place.
MAKING A STATEMENT
If you want to make a statement, there's no better way than to just spell it out with some wild graphics or color. When it's an outdoorman's vehicle, no other color scheme says outdoors more than some form of camouflage. But getting a camo paint job is very expensive; it's also difficult to reverse if, at some point in time, you tire of the look.

Not so with the new vinyl graphics out on the market. If you don't like the scheme or need to make some touch-ups, peel it off or lay another piece over the existing graphics.
At least that's what you can do if the graphics on the vehicle are printed on 3M Scotchprint vinyl sheets like those offered from Camoclad (www.camoclad.com; 618-342-6860). This special, self-adhesive film is a four-milimeter-thick, premium vinyl called "Controltac 160C". It is applied dry over the factory paint.

When it comes time to be removed, simply peel away and remove any minor trace adhesive residue that might remain with a cloth dampened by a paint-friendly adhesive remover such as Goo Gone, 3M Adhesive Remover, or WD-40
