Installing a Currie RockJock Rearend in a Jeep JK

Story & Photos by Off-Road Adventures Staff
Raise the rearend back to ride height in the vehicle by means of either a jack, or by going ahead and reinstalling the wheels and tires now and setting the vehicle on the ground. If you choose to reinstall the wheels and tires - make sure to torque all lug nuts back to factory specs. Now that the vehicle is at ride height, this will allow the suspension to settle at a neutral point so that you may go back and tighten all of your control arm bolts, trac bar bolt, and sway bar link nuts to factory specs.

Don't forget the lubricant. Install 3 quarts of 9+ racing gear oil into the rearend through the hole in the differential cover.

Attach the supplied vent hose onto the brass nipple on the housing, and then route the other end of the hose upward out of harm's way and tuck the end of it into the frame crossmember that is directly above the rearend above the e-brake cables. You may zip tie the hose to the e-brake cables if necessary.

Now that everything is installed you may measure the vehicle for the new u-joint style driveshaft per the measuring instructions of your local driveline shop.

Double check that everything is connected and all bolts are tightened. Your installation is complete. The bottom of the RockJock(r) rearend skid plate measures 9 " from the ground. That represents only 1/4" of ground clearance difference over the stock rearend! The RockJock(r) is the highest ground clearance 60 on the market!
