Joseph Granatelli competes in Kart Jr II.  At 15, this will be his last year racing Kart. Maybe next year we'll see him behind the wheel of a Single Buggy.

Championship Off Road Racing or CORR is on the rise. In the beginning, the 1970's, CORR was originally known as the Short Course Off Road Drivers Association or SODA. The SODA series was renamed as CORR in the late '90s and had some minor coverage on cable TV. For the 2008 Season CORR is focusing on race venues in Los Angeles, San Diego and Las Vegas, and will be featured in live television broadcasts on both SPEED and NBC. Yes CORR has come a long way since the '70s and while Disco maybe dead CORR Off Road Racing is alive and thundering.
CORR racing is broken into several classes. These are Pro 4, Pro 2, Pro Spec, Pro Lite, Pro Buggy, Single Buggy, UTV and Karts. The Pro 4 and Pro 2 trucks are full size rigs with V-8 engines, limited to

Anthony Verdone lost a front wheel during Sunday's race. Even with damage he managed to finish 10th in the Pro Buggy points standings.

800 hp. Pro Spec trucks are a new addition to Pro 2 but they are powered by E85 fuel rather than race gas. The Pro Lite class consists of compact or mid-size 2wds powered by 4-cylinder engines of 300+ hp. Buggys have two classes, Pro and single. The budget minded racer can compete in the UTV class, which is limited to an 800cc engine size. Young, up and coming racers can compete in the Modified Karts and Standard Karts (mini race trucks) classes. These young racers between the ages of 8 and 15 compete for the checkered flag as fiercely as the adults. The Kart Junior class is broken into two races, Junior 1 (ages 8-12) and Junior 2 (ages 13-15), to keep the field less congested and separate competitors by age. Modified Karts is open to all kids 8-15.

The Toyota powered Pro 4 Truck driven by #3 Rick Huseman catches a little air.
The 2008 CORR season opened in Pomona, California at the Los Angeles County Fairgrounds. The course included, fast straight-aways, banked turns, jumps, drops and whoops. For two days the air rumbled with the roar of engines, dust rose into the air and mud flew off the track as race fans watched drivers battle for the checkered flag.

Carl Renezeder is high, up on two wheels.  Amazingly he pulled out of this and won this race in Pro 4.

4 Wheel Parts' President/CEO, Greg Adler competes in Pro2.  Adler was positioned well at the end of day one, but a fuel pump problem caused issues on day two.

John Fitzgerald, #31, and Heath Carpenter, #25 battle it out in a turn during the Pro Lite race.
