Joel Behr has what some would consider a dream job. By night he manages a club in Las Vegas, Nevada. One advantage of working nights is that Joel's days a mostly free to do with as he pleases. Living in Las Vegas means never being more than a short drive from open country and deserted desert roads. Of course, Joel takes advantage of these open spaces whenever he gets the chance, which is quite often considering his work hours.
Joel's vehicle of choice for cruising the strip and running the trails is a 2003 F-150 Supercrew. The motor and transmission are reliable and Joel felt that they didn't need any major modifications. The addition of an Airaid intake and a computer chip, and Flowmaster exhaust provided added power while maintaining the factory reliability. For better dirt performance as well as improved looks, 37x15.5R16 ProComp Xterrain tires on ProComp 16x10 wheels where installed. To get the engine RPMs back into the comfort zone, 4.56 gears where installed. Since Joel only uses his truck for desert exploring and other moderate uses, he determined that for now, lockers where not needed.
In order to fit the 37-inch tall tires, a FabTech 6-inch lift was installed along with a 2-inch body lift. At the front dual remote reservoir Fox shocks where added. In addition ProComp trac bars where also installed to keep the rear end from wrapping up under power.
In the looks department, Joel had the factory headlights, tail lights and third brake light replaced with those from an '05 Ford Lightning. The looks are further upgraded with the addition of a square tubular grill. Now some of you may be thinking that a paint job is in order, but in the desert heat of Las Vegas, Joel is just fine with the highly reflective white the truck originally came with. We understand completely.
Joel's final upgrades are a set of Amp Research power steps to make it easier for all to enter and exit the lifted entrances. Also, a satellite radio was installed so that no matter how far out in the desert the truck takes him, Joel can still listen to his favorite tunes.
